PhenX Toolkit
The PhenX (consensus measures for Phenotypes and eXposures) Toolkit is a web-based catalog of recommended measurement protocols of phenotypes and exposures suitable for inclusion in genomic, clinical, and translational research studies with human participants.
Protocol
A standard data collection procedure, recommended by a PhenX Working Group. Also referred to as a "measurement protocol".
Measure
A standard way of capturing data on a certain characteristic of, or relating to, a study subject.
Domain
A field of research or topic with a unifying theme, which may be a research area, disease, or condition, and with easily enumerated quantitative or qualitative measures.
PhenX Interoperability
The PhenX Toolkit supports consistent data collection by providing detailed protocols for collecting new data via different modes of administration.
For each protocol, the Toolkit provides detailed instructions; features; and bioinformatics support which facilitate implementation of the protocols.
The use of PhenX protocols facilitates cross-study analyses, collaboration and data sharing, thus increasing the impact of individual studies over time.
