Description

This measure assesses current and past use of prescription and over-the-counter (OTC) medications. Protocol obtains information about pain-relieving medications, statins, steroids, and inhaled bronchodilators.

Specific Instructions

Exogenous female hormone use (estrogen and progesterone) is not collected in this protocol. This data is collected in the Cancer measure Exogenous Female Hormone Use.

*While this protocol was used in a study of women, the Cancer Working Group deems it appropriate to use with adult males.

Definition

Measure to assess current and past use of prescription and over-the-counter (OTC) pain-relieving medications, statins, steroids, anti-inflammatory medications, and inhaled bronchodilators

Purpose

Taking certain prescription and over-the-counter (OTC) medication may modify cancer risk. Assessing current and past use of prescription and OTC medications will help quantify either increased or decreased risk associated with these medications.
