Description
The Passage Comprehension Subtest of the Woodcock-Johnson® Tests of Achievement (WJ IV®) is an interviewer-administered test in which the respondent is asked to read a short passage and identify a missing keyword that makes sense in the context of the passage. The Woodcock-Johnson® Tests of Achievement (WJ IV®) can be scored with either the off-line method of estimated scores obtained from the Test Record (Mather & Wendling, 2014) or by using the scoring and reporting online format (Schrank & Dailey, 2014) or with Report Writer.
Specific Instructions
Passage Comprehension is a proprietary subtest of the Woodcock-Johnson® Tests of Achievement (WJ IV®) and is not sold separately. The Woodcock-Johnson® Tests of Achievement (WJ IV®) is a proprietary protocol, and administration requires a licensing agreement from Riverside Publishing. For this assessment to be considered valid, the investigator should make sure that the respondent speaks English as a first language.

Personnel and Training Required
The Passage Comprehension subtest of the Woodcock-Johnson® Tests of Achievement (WJ IV®) can be administered by a trained research assistant. Examiners should study the administration and scoring procedures found in the Passage Comprehension subtest of the Woodcock-Johnson® Tests of Achievement (WJ IV®) Examiner’s Manual and follow all procedures precisely. Investigators are encouraged to have quality control procedures in place to maintain consistency among examiners.
Equipment Needs
The interviewer will need a copy of the Woodcock-Johnson® IV Tests of Achievement test record and examiner’s manual.
